OUR STORY

Who, Why, where . . .

One Yoga’s founder Andrea Everingham, created the studios name through the concept that ‘There is only one yoga”. It’s the style or brand that allows us to choose which we prefer, but the end goal is the same; to bring about harmony, bliss…. samadhi through the reintegration of physical, psychological & spiritual aspects of who we are. Everything we need we already have, inside us, happiness starts with you. Practicing yoga provides direction to connecting with ourselves, our intuition, creativity & our boundless potential in this life. Through regular practice we begin to notice those moments of space between thoughts, where the mind is quiet & still, thus creating a meditative practice of yoga & state of mind in a fast paced world.

One Yoga Studio is situated in the heart of Chorlton, completely in tune with its location. It is tucked away between the unicorn organic co-operative, and the surrounding bohemian cafes. A diverse & creative community of many people seeking concious living in an ever changing faced paced world. One yoga studio offers a place of self exploration through the practice of Yoga.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is a fast flowing style of yoga with a set sequence of postures. It helps you tone muscle and lose weight. This style of yoga improves cardiovascular fitness as well as providing many of the other benefits of other styles of yoga such as de-stressing, improving focus and concentration, as well as benefits to posture and health.

Jivamukti Yoga

challenging yoga practice; each class includes a challenging & constantly changing physical practice with inspiring music, meditation, chanting & spiritual teachings. You will probably break out in a sweat during Jivamukti as it is an intense form of yoga with fast paced asana sequences. It is a traditional yoga practice weaved into a modern lifestyle. Jivamukti Yoga is 1 of the 9 internationally recognised styles of hatha yoga. Founders Sharon Gannon & David Life are recognised as 'innovators in yoga' in the U.S. today.

Hatha Yoga

The Hatha Yoga class is an eclectic mix or fusion of Ashtanga Yoga, Viniyoga, Sivananda Yoga and other styles of Hatha Yoga thrown in. This reflects the diverse influences on my journey in yoga. The Hatha Yoga classes are less physically challenging than the Ashtanga yoga classes. (Viniyoga is a slower dynamic form whilst Ashtanga Yoga is a faster dynamic form). We will work more precisely with particular postures when appropriate. The way I teach the Hatha Yoga class is as a fusion of Vinyasa Flow, Viniyoga, Sivananda Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga,. (The various Vinyasa Flow styles developed from Ashtanga Yoga.)

Vinyasa flow Yoga

An energising & usually challenging series of dynamic postures, flowing with the breath. This class is an inspiring blend of consistent asana (postures) & stationary asnana, usually practised with music. Everyone is welcome.

Beginners Asthtanga

Learn the fundamentals of the Asthanga series. Starting with the ujjayi breath, to standing asana (postures). Teachers will focus on alignment for safety & progression, and a pace that is inspiring yet not too demanding. A wonderful foundation for beginning your yoga journey.

Power Yoga

A a series of asanas (postures) to focus on & improve, strength, flexibility, & inner focus. The intention is to help support muscle, joint strength, stability & range of motion, creating a more balanced practice & body. As with most of our classes it will offer you to explore your maximum potential.

One Yoga are pleased to welcome Polestar trained and certified Pilates teacher Andy Bond into the Chorlton studio. Andy has been based in the city centre for a number of years and works with a wide range of cliental in various stages of health and fitness. Andy has built a reputation for his keen eye, relaxed manner and dedication to his clients. Personally Andy has found Yoga and Pilates a nice balance, each practice improving and complementing the other. Pilates is a safe and informed way to strengthen one's body, the focus is on toning the core and extremities in order to bring our bodies back to ideal alignment leaving the body feeling elongated. Join Andy Bond in a Pilates mat class to strengthen, stretch and centre you. The class with Andy will start Monday October 10th 2011 and runs for an hour at a cost of £7 (£5 for first class attended). Bring water, wear clothes you can move in and be as present as you can be on the day. We provide mats, but you are more than welcome to bring your own. Look great, get grounded and feel rejuvenated!

Many of our classes are fast paced , and can be intense & physically challenging at times. As our lives have become much more mentally fast paced & far less physically challenging, our aim at One Yoga is to restore balance to the mind, body & spirit, through breath & movement.

Our classes offer a very physically demanding yoga practise, bringing about, energy to the body, feelings of calm & surrender to the mind & a sense of spiritual connection to yourself again.

Prices

£7 per class all drop in, turn up in something you can move in & join in. Conscessions £5 with proof please.

Attend both classes in one evening at the reduced price of £10 only!

Classes as normal on Saturday and Sunday but the studio is closed Monday the 6th of May.

Durga comes to One Yoga Manchester with an awesome workshop. Durga taught in New York for 3 years before moving to the UK to help open the Jivamukti centre in London 7 years ago. The workshop will focus on heart Opening postures to stimulate the heart centre to letting go. Durga is an amazing Jivamukti teacher with a strong & energetic presence ………. Feel More Think Less.

Jivamukti Yoga Retreat

May 18 – 25 2013 & October 12 – 19 2013

Jivamukti Yoga is a playful, challenging flow yoga that will take your yoga practice to a new level. The Jivamukti Yoga holiday includes Vinyasa (flowing asana sequences), hands-on adjustments, Pranayama, meditation, and deep relaxation.

To keep the practice inspiring, asana sequences are ever-changing with music playing an integral role in the class.

We will be limiting the spaces in the special Jivamukti retreat to allow for optimum teacher attention and to help each student with development and progression. The week includes flowing asana practice, restorative class, Jivamukti Yoga theory, meditations, guided chanting (don’t worry, its fun!) and much more.

PARKING

There is plenty of road parking in the area. Visitors' car-parking available: there is visitors' parking on Albany Road Trading Estate at either end of the estate near to the gates.

In the evenings and on weekends the trading estate is not very busy (except for Saturday mornings) but please don't park into front of a unit that's still open.

In the evenings you can generally park in front of one of the other units if the business is closed (ie. if red shutters are down) Some people may decide to park at Morrisons, and do a class and shopping on the same journey.

Morrisons' opening hours are: Weekdays 8:30am-9pm; Sat 8am-8pm; Sun 10am-4pm (last checked 2/2/2011).
